Dear Irvine Neighbor,
I'm Mike Carroll, Councilmember, City of Irvine. I'm running for reelection this November and I'd be honored to have your vote.
My District includes the communities of Turtle Rock, Turtle Ridge, Quail Hill, Oak Creek, Orangetree, Los Olivos, Spectrum, Laguna Altura, Shady Canyon, and Hidden Canyon.
My wife Betty and I love raising our family in Irvine. We strongly support Irvine schools and own our small business here.
It has been an honor to serve as your City Councilmember, and as Chairman of the Great Park, one of the largest metropolitan parks in the nation with over 6 million visits per year.
I was a bi-partisan appointment in 2019 and was elected in 2020 with the second-highest number of votes in the City's history. Since then, I've fought for our Quality of Life and delivered results for you.
I stopped the development of over 130 high-density homes on a recreational site. I saved funding for Seniors with mobility needs and Irvine school children. I rescued the Great Park Balloon from demise. I passed a 2-year BALANCED City Budget. I launched a $1 billion park development plan that will place Irvine's Great Park among the great public parks in the nation. I helped establish the Gateway Preserve and I'm leading the establishment of new Open Space trails. I've held scores of Community Forums with residents and met with HOA Boards all across our City to provide important information and get input from the community.
Our family takes public service very seriously. Betty served on the IUSD School Board. I’ve volunteered much of my time in Community & Nonprofit Organizations:
-
Vista Verde K-8 School Foundation (President)
-
Parks & Recreation Commissioner (Chair)
-
Planning Commissioner (Vice Chair)
-
Board Member, Child Aid
-
Director, OneOC (formerly Volunteer Center of Orange County)
-
Founding Board Member, Hurtt Free Medical Clinic at The Orange County Rescue Mission
-
Director, Orange County Press Club
As your representative on the Irvine City Council, I’ll continue fighting for you:
-
Provide Irvine Police with the tools they need to stop property crime and ensure Irvine remains the Safest City in the United States
-
Enhance our parks and open space
-
Support our Irvine Public Schools
-
Reduce Traffic through road design and transit
I'm also proud of my efforts in serving our City during the COVID-19 pandemic, which included the following:
-
Established Orange County’s First City-sponsored COVID-19 Testing Program at the Great Park (over 10,450 Irvine Residents and School Teachers were Tested!)
-
Over 130,000 Meals-on-Wheels and prescription deliveries for Seniors and At-Risk Residents, Financial Relief and Affordability for Homeowners, and Over 2,100 Rentersover 500 Irvine Small Businesses grants
- COVID-19 HOTLINE assisted over 2,300 individual residents and Personally helped hundreds of Irvine residents get help to get through the pandemic
Please take a moment, and consider what we've accomplished so far for our community. Consider the words of the residents who are supporting me.
And most of all, look at my record of fighting for, defending, and celebrating this amazing, award-winning master-planned community and our Irvine Quality of Life.
It's been a privilege to serve this community since 2019 as your Irvine Councilmember. I would be grateful for your vote - so I can continue fighting for you.
With deep gratitude,
MIKE CARROLL
Councilmember, City of Irvine
